Lakeside Florist in Rockwall: Spreading Joy Through Flowers
Welcome to Lakeside Florist in Rockwall, where we’ve been spreading joy through fresh flowers and unique gifts since 2000. As a family-owned business, we take pride in serving our community and creating stunning arrangements for every occasion. Join us on a journey through our history, from humble beginnings to becoming a beloved staple in the Rockwall area.
The Blooming Beginnings
A Passion for Nature
At Lakeside Florist, our owner, Tommie Wells, has always had a deep love for plants and flowers. She believes they are God’s beautiful handiwork and surrounds herself with their vibrant colors and enchanting fragrances.
From Hobby to Business
In the 90s, Tommie and her friends hosted plant parties in their homes, crafting intricate arrangements with dried flowers for local craft shows. It quickly became evident that Tommie’s talent and passion could blossom into something more. In 2000, she seized the opportunity and purchased a flower shop called Kris’s Kreations. Tommie renamed the shop Lakeside Florist, and her journey of creating the highest quality flower arrangements began.
A Blossoming Family Business
Preston’s Path
In 2012, Tommie’s son, Preston Wells, graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from UNT. Eager to learn the ins and outs of running a business, Preston decided to join his mother at Lakeside Florist. Together, they relocated the shop to Horizon Road in Heath. Under Tommie’s guidance, Preston learned the art of customer service, bookkeeping, management, and even floral design. Today, Preston serves as the store manager and Tommie’s trusted partner, ensuring smooth operations at Lakeside Florist in Rockwall no matter how many orders come pouring in.
Embracing New Beginnings
A Dream Come True
In 2020, Tommie and Preston embarked on an exciting new chapter for Lakeside Florist. They found their dream location at 506 N Goliad, near the vibrant Downtown Rockwall Square. The Wells family couldn’t be happier with this serendipitous opportunity.
Becoming Part of the Community
Since settling into our new home, Lakeside Florist in Rockwall has actively engaged with the community. We proudly joined the Downtown Rockwall Association and the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce. You may have spotted us at local events like the Farmers Market, Spring Fling, Scare on the Square, and Holiday Open House, where we connect with our community and share our passion for flowers. Look out for our presence at SERVE and Southern Roots block parties, where we showcase our beautiful plants.
Wine & Design Parties
Thanks to the extra space at our new location, we’ve started hosting monthly Wine & Design parties. These delightful gatherings attract guests from all over DFW who come to sample our fantastic wine selection while learning the art of floral arrangement alongside their friends. It’s an evening of creativity, laughter, and, of course, beautiful blooms.
